RE: CAMPGROUND RECOMMENDATION

First, stop shouting. All caps is considered shouting.
Second, have you referred to the Good Sam Campground Directory or Woodall's?
Have you researched www.rvparkreviews.com?

RE: 1 ton in California

I was talking to a Nevada Dodge Dealer today and he said that if I buy the Dodge 3500 I would need a commercial drivers license to register and drive in California because it is a 1 ton. He also said I would need commercial insurance which is more expensive. Does anyone know anything about this?
Why don't you ask the experts, the California authorities?????

RE: First purchase advice

AAA has a list of approved independent auto repair shops. NAPA also endorses independent shops. Probably your best referrals.Well, that MIGHT take care of the running gear, but what about the rest of the rig?
Well, DUH! Of course the technicians evaluating the vehicle aspect of the motor home cannot render an opinion on the RV portion of the motor home. And a RV dealer really is not qualified to render an opinion on the mechanics of the vehicle aspect of the motor home.
Guess I should have been more specific for some people who are not quite as bright as others.

RE: Norcold fridge door......FELL OFF.....UPDATE

Also, watch what you put on those shelves in the door. They are convenient, but whatever is on those shelves adds a lot of weight. Then, as you drive down the road, all that bouncing with the extra weight adds considerable stress to the door hinges.

RE: Snowbirds, who's staying North this winter?

The only people who even consider staying up north in the winter are the ones who can't escape. The only people who would even consider living up north are the ones who don't have sense enough to escape!

RE: Walmart more heart then KOA

Each KOA is individually owned and operated, and the individual campgrounds pay a franchise fee to KOA. They have a wide latitude of operation guidelines, and I am sure what you experienced as far as a fee to extend the check out time is within the operating guidelines. As far as rude employees, that is unacceptable, but such a subjective observation that everyone will have a different opinion as what constitutes rudeness.
I will be surprised if you even get an acknowlegement from KOA.

RE: Insurance on "stuff" in storage while full-timing

Most commercial storage facilities offer insurance, but read the policy very, very carefully, as the pokicy may actually be meaningless. My experience was that the stoage facility's insurance was, in fact, not very comprehensive, and no other carrier would cover my belongings. I just risked not having insurance, and thankfully, did not need it.

RE: Trailer Life magazine sending junk mail

Per postal regulations, you can keep anything, regardless of value, sent to you in the US Mail that you did not order.

RE: Possible solution to smoking cigarettes

Before retirement, the correctional facility I ran was smoke free. We went to a smoke free environemnt about 20 years ago, and it was not an issue. Since inmates did not have access to cigarettes, they just stopped smoking without incident. When newly arrested inmates were introduced to the facility, they instantly became non-smokers. Since they had no control over their access to cigarettes, they accepted non-smoking. It is your free will to access cigarettes that causes any "stop smoking" effort to fail. Every one of my inmates were non smokers.

RE: Please help with National Parks planning decision...

www.nps.gov
This will give you an arm chair tour of every National Park, some very well known, and some quite obscure. Check out each state you are visiting, and plan your trip acordingly.
As far as Grand canyon is concerned, it is very nice, of course, but somewhat over-rated and very, very crowded. I much prefer Dead Horse Point State Park and Canyonlands National Park, bth in Utah.

RE: National Parks Visited Map (like States Visited Map)

There are almost 400 units of the National Park System, so it would be a very crowded map!!!!

RE: Flexible Gas Line Available?

It is available at your local hardware, Home Depot, or Lowe's. They are very common and used for dryer and stove installations.

RE: Parents bought RV and can no longer afford, advice please?

Sounds like your parents have a record of poor financial decisions. Your dad is not on the loan because of poor credit. Now your mother bought on credit something she doesn't need and won't use.
She owes the money, but now doesn't want to pay and you seem to think the bank and its stockholders should take a loss. She should sell the RV for whatever it brings, and take whatever is left to pay off the loan from the $60,000 CD.
Its a bummer but is the consequence of poor decisions.

RE: Air Conditioner NOT FIXED

Your best bet in RV repair is to find a local shop who you can trust, talk to, and have competent employees. Camping World does not fall into that category.
